January 1 – December 31

Just received your pistol permit but still don’t feel completely comfortable handling or shooting a handgun? This course was designed for you.

Getting your permit is only the first step. If you are a new handgun owner, have very limited shooting experience, or simply want more confidence before heading to the range on your own, our One-on-One Handgun Fundamentals Training provides personalized instruction in a relaxed, private setting.

There is no prior experience required. This course is especially well suited for new permit holders, first-time handgun owners, and anyone who may feel nervous, hesitant, or overwhelmed around firearms. Because the training is one-on-one, we can move entirely at your pace, spend extra time on the areas you are uncomfortable with, and answer questions that may be difficult to cover in a larger class.

Training can include:

  • Safe handgun handling and the fundamental rules of firearm safety
  • Understanding the controls and operation of your handgun
  • Proper loading and unloading
  • Grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control
  • Safely drawing, presenting, and manipulating the firearm as appropriate
  • Clearing common malfunctions
  • Range procedures and etiquette
  • Choosing and understanding ammunition
  • Safe storage, transportation, cleaning, and basic maintenance
  • Live-fire practice with individualized coaching
  • Building the confidence needed to safely practice on your own

The goal of this course is not to rush you through a checklist. It is to make sure you leave feeling safer, more knowledgeable, and more comfortable with your firearm than when you arrived.

Bring your own handgun if you have one, or contact us ahead of time if you need help determining what equipment is appropriate. Couples, friends, and small groups of two or more are also welcome.

Your permit gives you the ability to own a handgun. We’ll help give you the confidence to handle one safely.

Course Length: Approximately 2+ hours
Scheduling: By appointment — after signing up, an instructor will contact you to arrange a date and time that works for you.
