Are you getting ready to apply for your New York State Concealed Carry Permit? If so, this is the course for you!
This course will consist of 16 hours of in-person instruction as well as 2 hours of live-fire range time over 2 days total. This course will cover the following topics:
- General firearm safety
- State and Federal gun laws
- Concealed carry situation awareness
- Firearm safe storage requirements
- Conflict de-escalation tactics and general conflict management
- Use of deadly force
- Adverse effects of alcohol and drugs on firearm safety
- Best practices when encountering law enforcement
- Suicide prevention
- Basic principles of marksmanship
The classroom portion (day 1) will be held at Union Fire Company and the live-fire portion (day 2) will be held at Defensor, Inc. Lunch will be included on day 1.

Intro to Pistol Safety and Shooting
Are you new to this handgun thing? Did you just get your first handgun? Are you uncomfortable with your handgun? Do you need someone to show you how to use and shoot your handgun? If the answer is YES to any of these questions this course is for you.
Topics include gun safety rules, proper operation of your handgun, proper storage of your handgun, ammunition selection, shooting fundamentals, marksmanship, shooting range rules, pistol inspection and maintenance.
This is a must take course for every new handgun owner.

Be prepared to shoot…a lot. Our flagship class is a great resource for intermediate and
advanced shooters. After a quick review of the fundamentals, we’ll work on shooting
faster and shooting farther. Other topics and drills include shooting while moving vs
shooting then moving, target transitions, getting into the fight faster, combat vs tactical
reloads and overcoming common malfunctions. To aid in the fun and excitement, you
can expect to see steel plates, shot timers and holster work. A full or mid sized pistol is
recommended due to the high round count. Come join us for an incredibly exciting and
educational day of shooting. This training is limited to 10 participants.

Experience Requirements
- You must be able to comfortably and safely operate your pistol.
- A good guage would be shooting an 8″ grouping at 5 yards
Location
The training will be held at the Armstrong’s Private Farm and Range. Location details will be provided upon sign up.
This class is designed for handgun owners that want to learn how to safely draw and shoot from the holster. We’ll start with a quick review of marksmanship fundamentals, and then get into the mechanics of the draw. From there, expect to have fun working through a handful of different drills designed to make you a safer and more effective concealed carrier. We tend to do a lot of shooting in our classes so be prepared!
